What does a fatherless girl do on Father's Day?

We realize that none of us were born to live forever.

We reflect on the wonderful memories we have of our fathers.

We remember the lessons he taught.

We recognize the strength he left behind in us.

We re-dedicate ourselves to being the absolute best we can be.

We recreate the magic by loving our family and friends with our whole hearts.

We rejuvenate ourselves by taking care of ourselves -- mentally, physically, and spiritually.

We rejoice in the time we spent together.

And we rest in the assurance that we will see our fathers again.

Forty-five Father's Days later I still mourn my Dad. And I mourn for me, too, because I never had the chance to know him as a man, not just as my father. It never goes away, darn it. Still, the best way to honor him is to try to live a good life full of laughter, some tears, and strength. I love you, Dad.

Your father was such a kind and funny man. What wonderful memories you have.

Like you, I had a great father and will forever miss him until I see him again. I miss his guidance, love and laughter. My father was always my protector and my champion.

I remember Mr. Gravely so fondly. And when you say he was your protector, my mind immediately went to the day you wanted to go home because you weren't feeling well, and Mrs. Williams told you that you couldn't go. You called your father and he was up there in a heartbeat, and took you home, no questions asked. LOL!

I look in the mirror and I see my dad. I have his lips and his work ethic. 🙂 My work is never done, as his work was never done.
Always in the yard. He was either building something that we asked for; or rewiring some appliance. ( I think I fell in love with shoes just to see what he would build so that they weren't scattered all over the floor!
A big man, to a little girl who would stand at the door of the bathroom while he shaved. He never chased me away as I asked my thousands of questions.😊
Kissing his large fi gets, always in awe. How can a man with such large hands play the keys on our piano with such ease? He never had a lesson, but could play anything he heard! Tea for Two and What a Mighty Fortress is Our God filled the air when Nat King Cole's music took a rest!
But when we misbehave, our activities were curtailed! This was his favorite phrase from the time I was in grade school! He also gave us lines to write and tins if paper!
My dad was my hero when I was little.
Then life happened and we fell apart.
HALLELUJAH, years before he passed we reconciled and today I will still say, my dad was my hero.
On this Fathers Day, I do miss him. And I thank God for my parents, my childhood, and the positive life lessons that were imparted.
Happy Father's Day!

I loved reading this because I have some of those exact memories of my father. I will be forever grateful for my daddy.

Hello and Welcome to my blog!

I'm a grown up "church girl" who is bouncing back from some hard blows, including an ugly divorce, financial hardship, and dreams deferred.  Now, more than ever before, I am embracing the idea of transformation and beautiful new beginnings.

Won't you take this journey with me?
